You’ll soon have lots more choice in what you can eat, promise!

  • when you’re on the go
  • when you’ve got inflammations
  • when you feel like you’ve got a cold

Candida Snacks for when you’re starving

Coconut Yogurt Snack Coconut Yogurt Snack

When you are really ravenous I recommend you have the crunchy coconut snack with probiotic yogurt.

The sour jogurt taste takes some getting used to.But it works an absolute treat to stop your hunger pangs.

Here’s how you make it: 2-4 tblspoons of yogurt, 2 tblspoons of sunflowerseeds, pinch of cinnamon and puffed rice on top.

The puffed rice brings it all together nicely because of the different crunchy textures.

TOP TIP: If cow’s milk/ yogurt doesn’t agree with you very well, try goats jogurt instead (unless you are completely lactose intolerant.) It’s not as nice, but easier on the digestive system.

I’ve switched to goats/ sheeps yogurt myself at the moment.

Fried egg snackFried Egg Snack

This rustic treat is so filling, you can have it for lunch if you wanted to. But you can just as well whip it up as a snack in between meals.

This is one of the candida snacks that you can prepare the day before. Take it out of the fridge and briefly zap it under the grill. Some people even like it cold.

Here’s how you make it: Fry 1 chopped leek with 3 eggs and a bit of seasoning. Turn it over once and serve on a bed of lettuce leaves. Makes 2 servings.

Best Candida Snacks when you have Sinuses/ Throat problems

Candida and sinuses/ throat problems go hand in hand normally. If you are unfortunate enough to be struggling with these issues, like I did, try these Candida Snacks.

They are both good allround vitamin bombs and will give your immune system an extra boost.

TOP TIP: Stay away from hummous, spicy chickpeas and yogurt while you suffer from cold-like symptoms. These can make your condition worse.

Avocado Avocado

Avocado is one of the simplest and best candida snacks full stop! Full of nutrients and great for your skin as well.

Quick to whip out and surprisingly filling. If you can easily get hold of fresh Avocadoes where you live – do it. They are incredibly good for you.

Here’s how you make it: Half the avocado and disregard the stone. The simply pour 1 tblspoon of extra virgin olive oil over the tao halfs, sprinkle with low salt and freshly ground pepper.

Enjoy!

Mixed Salad Mixed Salad

A salad made with fresh organic ingredients and herbs is a quick pick me up.

Yet one rarely eats it on its own for a bit of a boost. Well, what can I say, you do when you’re very hungry.

And you’ll be really grateful for the sweetness of the red pepper and cherry tomatoes.

Here’s how you make it: You can use any salad you like. I used lettuce and spinach leaves, fresh parsley, avocado, cherry tomatoes, red bell pepper.

Try a simple dressing such as olive oil, salt, ground pepper, tumeric and a pinch of cayenne pepper and garlic granules.

Ideal Candida Snacks when you are on the go

boiled-eggs Boiled Eggs

Here’s a thing I take with me on journeys these days – boiled eggs (unpeeled). Convenient and filling. The only downside is the slightly iffy smell – you might get a few looks if you’ve got people sitting near you.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Red Pepper Red bell pepper slices wrapped in foil work nicely, too.

Soothing Candida Snacks that bring inflammations down and calm your nerves

cucumber Chilled Cucumber Slices

This is an unusual candida snack. I came up with it when I went on a long journey where I couldn’t take any salad, veg or large bottles of water with me.

So I figured the cucumber slices would keep me hydrated and would be easy to eat on the train.

Surprisingly refreshing and hunger suppressing. Would definitely take with me again.

Tuna Snack Tuna Snack with Lettuce

Here’s another one for your quick candida snacks range.

Here’s how you make it: Just open a small tin of tuna (or use between 1/3 to 1/2 of a big one).

Then drain the juices and serve the tuna on a bed of lettuce with a bit of freshly ground pepper and a sprinkle of salt.

You can kiss your candida goodbye with candida snack foods like these.

Immune System Boosting Snack Foods when you’re feeling really low

TOP TIP: Take double the amount of multi vit & mineral tablets than you are normally taking – makes a real difference (I use the green “Advanced Nutrition Complex” ones from Higher Nature).

Sometimes it can also help to drink tea from dried Camomile flowers in the evening and have a magnesium tablet – calms and relaxes.

Double your water drinking efforts, if you can.

Green Goodness Juice Green Goodness Juice

This Immune Booster Power House is one of the healthiest candida snacks/ drinks. With its abundance of vitamins and minerals it’s just what you need in times of stress. Follow the link in the header above to see the recipe.

TOP TIP: For a Green Goodness Quickie try half a teaspoon of chlorella powder, 1/4 of a teaspoon spirulina and the juice of 1 lemon in a glass of water

– I have one of these drinks every morning before breaky – it sets you up for the day!

Hot Cuppa Hot Cuppa

Hot and comforting is always a goodie during a diet as strict as the Candida Diet you’ve embarked on.

Make it a habit to treat yourself to a hot cuppa regularly.

This can be a soothing herbal tea or a hearty yeastfree vegetable or chicken broth for a change – great craving buster!

Here’s how you make it: Add 1 teaspoon of stock powder or half a stock cube to 0.5 l hot water and stir well.

Veggy Snack Steamed Greens with Pumpkinseed Oil and salt & freshly ground pepper

Here’s how you make it: Steam 2-4 broccoli florets, 2 asparagus stems and a handful of peas or whatever green veggies you’ve got handy for 15 minutes until tender.

Toss some pumpkin seed oil (or other oil of your choice) over it. Season with salt and pepper and serve on a bed of lettuce leaves.

TOP TIP: You can also sprinkle some sunflower, pumpkin or sesame seeds on top to make it more filling.

I’d also recommend you to make double the amount, so you have a handy snack food the next day.

Quick Courgette Snack Quick Courgette Snack

Here’s how you make it: Just chop 2 small courgettes into cubes and fry in tumeric, salt and pepper.

Then add some mixed seeds and perhaps a little pumpkinseed or sesame oil. Serve with roughly chopped fresh coriander leaves and perhaps a handul of mixed seeds.

I’m not a great fan of courgettes. But this side dish actually tastes alright, and its lightning fast to make whenever the cravings are coming to get you.

nuts Freshly Cracked Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds make superb candida snacks as they are full of minerals and healthy oils.

Just be careful with prepackaged nuts as they can contain mould that is not visible to the eye but can still aggravate your symptoms.

They might not be as comforting and sweet as the snacks you are used to. But just hang in there.

The better you stick with these candida snacks the quicker you reach phase 3.

Then you can have some sweeter & more filling treats like porridge, cake (yes, cake!) and puddings.

It won’t be long, so grit your teeth and carry on reading ;-)

Here’s what you need to watch out for in phase 2 snacking wise:

I overindulged with phase 3 type candida snacks too early on – Don’t make the same mistake!

I know how hard it is not to eat Bagels, Cakes and Chocolate Bars whilst everyone around you eats them and keeps offering them to you. It just sucks!

You can bet that I tried countless combinations of healthy filling carb variations.

One of my favourites being quinoa or millet porridge with rice milk.

My cravings were so bad I didn’t just eat a bowl of rice milk and cereal – I would eat at least 2 if not 3! Sound familiar?!

Often times I even carried on eating them despite having more symptoms afterwards (sneezing, itchy eyes, feelind bloated).

The thing is though that at the time I didn’t realise that the porridge caused more symptoms – I would have told you it’s just the die off symptoms.

So don’t kid yourself – If you are eating double portions of carbs (regardless of how healthy they are meant to be), chances are you’re feeding candida. There’s only one thing for it – eat something that doesn’t feed candida.

My  food diary entries from this time definitely confirm this suspicion. Hence I feel I should warn you to really listen in with yourself and vary what you eat and see what difference it makes.

It took me a while to come to terms with the idea of trying different less tasty foods like steamed green vegetables as a snack. You almost feel like eating this secretely behind closed doors as nobody would do this “normally”.

Yet these are the foods that help you heal the quickest. Some of them will sound strange to you at first no doubt. But you might surprise yourself and adopt a creative dare devil mindset of trying new combinations of foods that you once would have sniffed at – at least that’s what happened to me.

Thanks for reading this far ;-) Here’s my Secret Craving Buster Recipe for You – A Deliciously Sweet Treat

Sweet and exotic – a real alternative to porridge and puddings.
