November 4, 2013Thank you. Your book has helped me figure out why an odd assortment of foods is giving me the occasional face rash (bananas, jellybeans, corn bread, dried sugared strawberries). I will be starting the diet as soon as my supplies arrive. That food list is some buzz kill. Just kidding. I’ll be glad to get rid of the balloon trapped in my mid-section.
Sandra
November 4, 2013Thanks Melissa, I’m glad you found out what caused your symptoms. You should heal quite quickly I would have thought. How long have you had it, do you know? Wishing you a smooth start into the diet. The balloon will go, no worries. You’ll feel much better!

November 7, 2014Hello Sandra….
I am about to start the 5 day colon cleanse before embarking on the program… i have been reading your book which is great. I am slightly confused though, am i allowed to have potatoes, lentils and beans in a veg soup during this cleanse? as i have read alot of information and have read that i must stay away from potatoes etc.
also what about tinned tomatoes? (for cleanse)
any help would be great
Sandra
November 7, 2014Hello Zoe, nice to hear from you and thank you for buying my book. The purpose of the colon cleanse is to get things moving through your system, so when you don’t put food in during stage 1 of the diet and your digestion comes to a hold don’t have too much undigested food and old stuff in your gut that allows pathogens and yeast to prosper. Therefore the rules are more laid back, otherwise you would already be on the diet. This is more like a warm up where you eat a significantly sugar reduced diet, but not extreme.
A few potatoes/ sweet potatoes in soup or with green vegetables are not likely to cause you any trouble. Be safe in the knowledge that your body is already killing Candida from you not feeding it with sugar and fruit, and you will kill even more once the diet begins. A gradual sugar and carb reduction generally agrees better with people than going cold turkey.
But if you are worried you could always straightaway start with the cleanse and take a colon cleanse supplement that helps keep things moving… Tinned tomatoes are ok in the prep stage, in Stage 1 (the fast) I would try and avoid it as tomatoes are fairly acidic which isn’t ideal for healing.
Wishing you a smooth start
Zoe
November 8, 2014thank you for your reply
another thing…. the reason why i am doing this is because im at the end of my tether with constant thrush for the last 2 to 3 years and now am starting to get UTIs, and the usual mood swings and what not…. its taking a massive toll on my relationship. ive seen a number of speciallists too but i was told by them that it has nothing to do with what im eating which i dont believe as i have cut out yeast/wheat before and it had a good effect. when do you think would be the best time to start with antifungals and which ones do you think would work best for these symptoms?
i get so confused with all the yeast/wheat/gluten free information!!!
Sandra
November 12, 2014You’ll definitely respond well to the diet… listen to your instincts! If you decide to do a short fast start I’d start with the antifungals afterwards (to give your body a chance to catch up with what will be killed during the fast naturally). If you are going straight into the diet I’d start then.
P.S.: The best natural remedy for UTIs is a herb called uva ursi – it works a treat! In terms of antifungals rotate different ones… I’ve seen good results for similar symptoms with oil of oregano as well as olive leaf. Do bear in mind though that I am not medicinally qualified to give you treatment advice. So take what I say with a pinch of salt. I want to see you heal, but I am no doctor – can only share what worked for me ? Good luck
