How Do You Get Candida?

How do you get candida?

Prevent Candida by Strengthening Your Immune System!

Candida is caused by a form of yeast organism (also called candida albicans) that is always present in the body.

You don’t really know that this stuff is going on in your body unless this delicate system is out of kilter and you get ill. It sounds pretty gross, but it’s a healthy part of the digestive process.

Everybody has yeast growing in their body believe it or not. But some peoples’ immune system is able to cup the yeast growth at a healthy level and never get Candida symptoms.

Basically those “friendly bacteria” that you know from those yogurt adverts help your immune system. They take up space in your gut that the yeast might otherwise take over.

So, how DO you get Candida in the first place?

If your immune system is weakened through prolonged illness you are more likely to get a yeast infection. The contraceptive pill, diabetes and antibiotics are also well known contributing factors of candida overgrowth.

  • Weak immune system (Have you been ill for some time?)
  • Contraceptive pill
  • Diabetes
  • Antibiotics

So Candida in itself is not contagious. But for instance if your immune system is run down and you are exposed to higher candida levels (for instance through kissing or sex) then you can get thrush.

But what’s the number one cause of candida related problems – How do you get Candida exactly?

Your diet plays a major part in your digestive health.

  • A diet rich in fast food and sugar is the ideal breeding ground for yeast. Here’s a list of foods to avoid.
  • Constipation is also known to promote Candida growth.

How do you prevent Candida?

Regular exercise can help to re-activate a sluggish digestive system which in turn helps to prevent Candida. So as long as your immune system is strong, you eat a balanced diet and avoid taking antibiotics you’ll be fine. And don’t start worrying about taking the pill, please. That in itself will not give you candida. It is only a contributing factor.

You won’t get a candida problem from just one thing. It’s always an accumulative effect from lots of things going wrong for years.

This is where is a candida diet plan comes in handy. Once the candida is under control it’ll help you maintain a healthy balance so that you don’t get Candida ever again.

So what do you do when you suspect that you have Candida?

First of all you examine where in your body you might have an issue. Then you compare this with a list of typical Candida symptoms – like this one here.

If you are still unsure about the result you can also do a test.
